Leganes vs Valencia 24/02/19
24 February 2019
The two sides distanced by a three-point margin face-off against each other at the Estadio Municipal de Butarque as Leganes take on Valencia in a mid-table clash.
Currently sitting 14th in the table, with a six-point lead over 18th-placed Villarreal, the hosts hope to extend a six-game lossless home streak (W3, D3) and increase their chances of avoiding relegation. Stubborn at the back but not so prolific in attack, Los Pepineros have failed to provide the local fans with many reasons for excitement. Five of Leganes’ last seven home outings across all competitions have produced under 2.5 goals, with Mauricio Pellegrino’s men scoring exactly one goal per match in all five. However, in the same period, the Cucumber Growers have kept four clean sheets, restricting their rivals to a maximum of one match goal on three more occasions. However, Leganes have lost all three of their H2H meetings with Valencia at this venue, scoring two goals while allowing six in the process.
As for the visitors, they currently trail fourth-placed Sevilla by four points, but still have a chance to secure the Champions League promotion if they can stretch a six-game LL unbeaten run (W2, D4). What’s more, the Bets put an eight-game lossless streak across all competitions on the line here (W4, D4) looking to secure first LL triumph after playing out three successive stalemates. But, much more comfortable at home, the Oranges have clinched just one victory on their last five LL road trips (W1, D2, L2). But, unlike the majority of the season, three of Valencia’s last LL road clashes have produced goals on both ends, with all of them ending with 3+ match goals.
