Leganes vs Barcelona 27/09/18
27 September 2018
After a surprising 2-2 draw with Girona at the Camp Nou, Barcelona will travel to the Madrid Metropolitan Area to face off against CD Leganes, with the match designed to take place at the Estadio Municipal de Butarque in midweek.
With four defeats and a draw, Los Pepineros are nailed to the bottom of the table, as just one of three La Liga sides to fail to clinch a victory after the opening five fixtures. Mauricio Pellegrino’s team are going through a severe crisis, as they lost three successive league games while failing to score in the last two of them. Additionally, in the last four matches against the Catalan giants, Leganes have suffered four defeats, conceding 13 goals in the process.
On the other hand, the Blaugrana were the only La Liga outlet to achieve a maximum number of points before that draw with Girona, as Ernesto Valverde expects to see his players returning to winning ways instantly. So far, the defending champions have featured in two away encounters, defeating Valladolid and Real Sociedad, by scoring three and conceding one goal. Even in the Champions League, Barcelona have demolished the Dutch champions PSV Eindhoven by four goals to nil, with Leo Messi becoming the first player to notch eight hat-tricks in the most prestigious club competition in Europe.
Arnaiz Diaz, Ezequiel Munoz, and Alexander Szymanowski won’t be able to help their teammates after picking up various injuries. As for the visitors, Sergi Samper and the Brazilian winger Malcom are ruled out with injuries, while Clement Lenglet has to skip the encounter after getting sent off against Girona.
