Leganes vs Atletico Madrid 26/08/19
26 August 2019
Leganes and Atletico Madrid go head-to-head at the Estadio Municipal de Butarque with the visitors looking to stretch their unbeaten run in top-flight H2Hs to seven games (W3, D3).
The hosts have started the new season pretty much in the same way they’ve finished the last one, suffering a 1-0 home loss to the returnees Osasuna. It was Leganes’ third consecutive LL defeat, with two of the previous ones seeing them concede precisely two goals per match and score just one in the process. What’s more, Los Pepineros have not only failed to pick up a win in their last five LL home games (D2, L3), but they’ve scored only one goal across those games, restricting their rivals to a maximum of one goal per match four times though. But, Leganes are unbeaten in all three of their top-flight H2Hs with Atletico at this venue (D3), with all of those clashes producing under 2.5 goals.
Meanwhile, the visitors have pulled off a narrow 1-0 home win over Getafe in the LL opener, bringing a three-game LL winless run to a halt (D2, L1). But, Los Colchoneros’ indifferent away form in the final stage of the 2018/19 league campaign has seen them secure just two wins in the last six LL trips (W2, D1, L3). While both of their triumphs in that period saw them beat their rivals to nil, three of their defeats have seen them concede over 1.5 match goals and fail to find the back of the net. Interestingly, all five of Atletico’s LL away wins since the turn of the year have been accompanied by a clean sheet, with three of them witnessing Los Rojiblancos score over 2+ match goals.
