Lecce vs Lazio 08/07/20

08 July 2020

Lazio head to the Stadio Via del Mare to take on Lecce, looking to extend an unbeaten run in Serie A H2Hs to five games (W3, D1).

Six consecutive Serie A defeats, five of which saw Lecce concede over 3.5 goals and go down to at least a two-goal margin, has seen the hosts tumble to the relegation zone. In turn, none of Lecce’s last five league home games has ended in a stalemate (W2, L3), with each of those results (win/loss) seeing the winner on the day score over 1.5 goals. It will be a daunting prospect for the ‘Salernitans’ to turn their fortunes around here, as they’ve lost all three of their previous top-flight home H2Hs, all of which saw them concede at least once in the opening half an hour and at least once in the second half.

Meanwhile, two losses from their last four league outings (W2) have struck a devastating blow to Lazio’s title hopes, as they take the field seven points adrift of table-toppers Juventus. Curiously, though, three of those four results saw the winner on the day come from behind to seal three points. Away from home in Serie A, the ‘Biancocelesti’ have won three of their last four trips (L1), with each of those results yielding a single-goal margin. Also, Simone Inzaghi’s men have shown a talent to respond after conceding the opening goal. Lazio lost just one of six Serie A away games in which they’ve shipped the opener (W3, D2).
