Lecce vs AS Roma 29/09/19

29 September 2019

For the first time since 2012, Lecce and AS Roma will face-off in Serie A (SA), as the returnees welcome seventh-placed visitors to the Stadio Via del Mare.

None of the home side’s league games has ended in a draw (W2, L3), with two of their three SA defeats coming at home. Interestingly, three of their last league results have featured over 2.5 goals and have seen the losing side score precisely one goal. Lecce’s home form from the second half of last season is in sharp contrast to their home displays this term. Before losing back-to-back SA home outings, ‘I Giallorossi’ have racked up a nine-game winning home run in Serie B, netting 2+ match goals on seven occasions in the process. They will need to replicate that kind of form here if looking to pick up some points against a team who they’ve beaten only once in the previous nine top-flight H2Hs here (W1, D4, L4).

Meanwhile, the visitors’ 13-game SA unbeaten run (W7, D6) has been halted last time out as Atalanta walked away from the Stadio Olimpico with all three points (2-0). Nonetheless, the Rome giants are unbeaten in six of their previous SA trips having pulled off just two triumphs though (W2, D4). Entertainment lacked across those fixtures, with only one of those matches producing over 2.5 goals, with three of those four draws ending with the same 1-1 scoreline. Paulo Fonseca’s men have scored all three of their league away goals this term in the second half, conceding precisely one goal per match on both occasions.
