Lazio vs Brescia 30/07/20

30 July 2020

Lazio welcome relegated Brescia to the Stadio San Paolo this midweek, looking to post a fourth consecutive win in their Serie A H2Hs.

The hosts have enjoyed an upturn in form warming up for the clash, going from five Serie A games without a win (D1, L4) to back-to-back triumphs. Curiously, five of the six results (wins/losses) during that seven-game sequence saw over 2.5 goals and both teams on the scoresheet, with four yielding the identical 2-1 scoreline. Intriguingly, four of those matches witnessed the winner on the day come from behind the seal three points. In fact, the ‘Biancocelesti’ have shown a great talent for recovering from a -1 handicap, having won the division-high four of seven Serie A home fixtures in which they shipped the opening goal this term (D2, L1).

As for the visitors, they’re already preparing for life in Serie B after suffering six defeats in ten Serie A outings since the resumption of football in June (W2, D2). A genuine lack of defensive quality has seen Brescia concede an average of 2.7 goals across those ten matches, which stands well above their season average of 2.11 goals shipped per league game. Indeed, only Lecce (80) have conceded more Serie A goals than Brescia (76) this season, with the majority (56.58%) of them arriving away from home (43). Particularly vulnerable after the break, ‘Le Rondinelle’ have allowed a league second-high 25 second-half goals on the road this term.
