Lazio vs Atalanta 19/10/19

19 October 2019

Lazio and Atalanta will lock horns at the Stadio Olimpico this weekend, with the home team looking to put an end to their frustrating four-game winless run in Serie A (SA) H2Hs (D2, L2).

A 2-2 away draw with Bologna means that Lazio are now unbeaten in three straight games in all competitions (W2, D1), with all of those matches producing over 2.5 goals. Although they’ve failed to beat Atalanta in the last two SA H2Hs at this venue (D1, L1), the hosts can rely on good form at home this term (W2, D1). After being held to a 1-1 draw to AS Roma, the Biancocelesti have won both of their subsequent two SA home games by a multiple-goal margin. Importantly, both of those triumphs have seen Lazio win each half of the SA home action to nil. Scoring first might be crucial for the home side, as they’ve returned just two points from three SA outings that witnessed them concede the opener (D2, L1).

Sitting third in the table, three points adrift of league toppers Juventus, the visitors head to Rome on a run of five league games without a loss (W4, D1). Impressively, Gian Piero Gasperini’s men have scored 2+ match goals in all eight of their SA games so far, which is something no other side in Italy has managed to do. Moreover, Atalanta’s 18-goal haul leads the way, leaving Napoli at 15 as the closest followers. What matters the most here is that 11 of those goals scored have come away from Bergamo. Like it was the case last season, La Dea continues to impress away from home this year, picking up all four triumphs on the road.
