Lazio vs AC Milan 27/02/19
27 February 2019
Devastated by three consecutive losses across all competitions, Lazio host an improving AC Milan team to the Stadio Olimpico for the first leg of their Coppa Italia semi-finals tie.
Not only Lazio lost three successive games, but the hosts have scored just three goals in their last six competitive outings, failing to notch 2+ match goals during the sequence. What’s more, the Biancocelesti’s crisis that has spread across all fields has seen them pull off just three victories in their last nine home meetings (W3, D3, L3). Another potential worry for Simone Inzaghi is the fact his players have failed to preserve a clean slate in 11 of their previous 12 home fixtures, allowing over 1.5 goals per match four times in the process. The only thing that can comfort the Eagles fans is that Lazio managed to restrain AC Milan in all four of their previous H2H meetings at this venue (W1, D3), restricting the visitors to a maximum of one goal per match in each.
On the other hand, a strong run of form that has seen them picking up five wins in their last seven outings across all competitions (W5, D2) currently ranks the Rossoneri as top favorites to secure fourth place in Serie A. Led by the Serie A second-best goalscorer, Krzysztof Piatek, the visitors have racked up a three-game winning run, scoring exactly three goals per match in each. Meanwhile, Gennaro Gattuso could be more than happy to see his players conceding just three goals in their last nine competitive clashes. The last time Milan allowed over 1.5 goals per match was against Olympiacos in the Europa League group stage back in December, after which they’ve limited their rivals to a maximum of one match goal in 13 successive games across all competitions.
