Lausanne vs AS Monaco 14/07/19

14 July 2019

Lausanne and AS Monaco will face-off at Stade olympique de la Pontaise in a friendly match that sees the two sides playing against each other for the first time in the 21st century.

It will be Lausanne’s fifth match in pre-season, and the first one against a none-Swiss team. They have so far registered partial success (W2, D1, L1), with three of those games featuring over 4.5 goals and witnessing both team score. Les bleu et blanc’s struggling for form has seen them endure mixed fortunes in their last six games last season (W3, D1, L2), with four of those matches producing over 2.5 goals. Prolific in the attack but fragile at the back, Giorgio Contini’s men have provided their fans with entertainment recently, as they’ve scored over 1.5 goals per match in four of their last six outings while they’ve struggled to keep a clean sheet on four occasions too.

Meanwhile, the French giants will be desperate to bounce back after a disastrous 5-0 loss to Lokeren in a friendly meeting. Before that, Les Monégasques have outplayed another Belgian outfit, Cercle Brugge, 4-1 in their first summer friendly. Leonardo Jardim faces a daunting prospect of reviving a team that has been struggling for the entire 2018-19 campaign, having barely dodged the Ligue 1 relegation. Les Rouges et Blancs have clinched just one triumph in nine competitive outings since March (W1, D3, L5), keeping a clean sheet only twice along the way.
