Juventus vs Young Boys 03/10/18

03 October 2018

The Serie A heavyweights Juventus will be hosting Young Boys at the Allianz Stadium, intending to extend an 8-game winning streak.

In the Champions League opener against Valencia in Spain, the Bianconeri have achieved a 2-0 win thanks to two penalties converted by Miralem Pjanic after Cristiano Ronaldo received a red card. Meanwhile, in the Italian Serie A, the holders are the only team to record all seven victories, including a 3-1 triumph over Napoli last weekend, as they currently top the table with a 6-point lead over Gli Azzurri. With the arrival of the Portuguese captain, the Turin-based side are hopeful they can lift the Champions League trophy for the first time in the 21st century, although he won’t be able to help his teammates against the Swiss outfit.

As for the visitors, they’ve suffered a 3-0 loss to Manchester United at home on the opening matchday, minimizing their chances of clinching at least the Europa League promotion. However, in the Swiss Super League, the defending champions are topping the table with a record of nine wins in the opening nine fixtures, with a remarkable +26 goal difference. Gerardo Seoane would like to see his team wrapping up some points in their premier Champions League appearance, but it’s hard to expect they can resist against the vigorous Allegri’s side.

Apart from Ronaldo, who is out due to a suspension, Mattia De Sciglio, Leonardo Spinazzola, and Sami Khedira will be watching the game from the stands after picking up injuries. On the other hand, Jordan Lotomba, Kevin Mbabu, Gregory Wuthrich, Pedro Teixeira, and Djibril Sow are all struggling with injuries and is yet to be seen whether they would be able to perform.
