Juventus vs Tottenham Hotspur 21/07/19

21 July 2019

Juventus and Tottenham Hotspur will face-off at the Singapore National Stadium in their opening 2019 International Champions Cup match.

The Bianconeri will look to start a new cycle after enduring a disappointing period in the closing stage of the 2018-19 campaign. The reigning Serie A holders have won just one of their last seven games across all competitions (W1, D3, L3), securing a 2-1 home win over Fiorentina. Interestingly, five of the remaining six matches have featured under 2.5 goals, with all three draws in that period ending with the same 1-1 scoreline. Also, all three of Juve’s defeats across that period have seen them concede precisely two goals per match, with two of them ending with a 2-0 scoreline.

Meanwhile, the Spurs will kick off their pre-season against the team that dumped them out of the Champions League in 2018. The London giants have also been struggling for form in the final stage of last season, having secured just one triumph in their last five Premier League outings (W1, D1, L3). Notably, all three of those failures have ended with the same 1-0 scoreline, while their only win over Brighton saw them clinch a narrow 1-0 triumph too. Mauricio Pochettino’s side has come close to wrapping up their first major trophy, but a 2-0 loss to Liverpool in the Champions League final has ended their dreams of reaching the top of Europe.
