Juventus vs Torino

Allianz Stadium is the venue as Juventus and Torino lock horns in the latest Serie A edition of the famous Derby della Mole.

Synonymous with stalemates, Juventus fought back from a halftime deficit to hold Lille to a 1-1 draw in midweek UEFA Champions League action. It was the third time across their last four competitive outings that they shared the spoils (W1), a trend they’ve been unable to break under Thiago Motta. Despite overseeing an 11-game unbeaten Serie A start, the new Juventus manager has drawn six matches already (W5), hence a four-point deficit on table-topping Napoli at the beginning of this round. ‘I Bianconeri’ may be boasting an outrageous H2H against Torino since 1995 onwards (W28, D9, L1), but that doesn’t mean they can take anything for granted. Indeed, the record-time Serie A champions have only won once in their last five home games across all competitions (D3, L1).

In the meantime, Torino’s notorious downfall has seen them suffer five defeats across their last six Serie A outings (W1) after going unbeaten in their first five league matches under new boss Paolo Vanoli (W3, D2). Devils from the past have recently returned to haunt them, with back-to-back 1-0 losses to Fiorentina and Roma resembling their scoring problems under ex-manager Ivan Juric. Slow out of the blocks, the visitors have conceded first before halftime on their last three Serie A road trips, losing them all eventually (L3). Flipping the script in this match-up looks unlikely, considering they’ve capitulated at least twice in four of their last five away league H2Hs (D1, L4).
