Juventus vs Spezia

Allianz Stadium is the venue as Juventus and Spezia go head-to-head in their fifth Serie A showdown.

Following a first trophyless season since 2010/11 last term, Juventus have experienced another underwhelming start, racking up a win and two draws from their opening three Serie A fixtures. Standout striker Dusan Vlahovic slotted home a sublime free-kick to put ‘I Bianconeri’ 1-0 up against Roma at the weekend, but Tammy Abraham’s equaliser ensured a 1-1 share of the spoils. Left with just two wins from their last six Serie A home outings (D3, L1), Massimiliano Allegri’s men head into proceedings under heavy pressure to deliver. Spezia could be a perfect starting point for Allegri’s effort to turn his team’s fortunes around, with Juventus winning all four historical H2Hs in Serie A via an aggregate score of 11-3, including both last season’s victories by a single-goal margin.

On the other hand, Spezia overhauled an early 1-0 deficit only to be held to a 2-2 draw to Sassuolo at the weekend to complement their mixed three-game Serie A start (W1, D1, L1). Avoiding defeat at Juventus would see ‘I Aquilotti’ exceed a four-point tally after the opening four rounds for the first time in their top-flight history. But following a 3-0 defeat at Inter Milan in their most recent Serie A away match, Spezia could draw a blank in back-to-back top-flight road trips for the first time since December 2021. That prospect is well in the realm of reality, as they’ve failed to score in both previous Serie A visits to Juventus (L2). With each of Spezia’s four league goals this season coming before halftime, Luca Gotti’s men could break their scoring duck in Turin early on.
