Juventus vs Napoli 30/09/18
30 September 2018
In addition to the Derby of the Capital, another big derby will take place in Italy this weekend, with Juventus looking to host Napoli at the Allianz Stadium, praying to get their revenge on last season’s defeat in the closing stage of the Serie A.
The defending champions are still the only team in the league to wrap up a maximum of 18 points after the opening six fixtures, as they comfortable swept Bologna aside with a 2-0 victory at home in midweek. Furthermore, the Bianconeri are topping the table with a +9 goal difference, and with a record of 13 goals scored in six games, they are also the best attacking team in Italy. Massimiliano Allegri’s side so far played three matches in Turin, securing all three wins, while scoring six goals in the process and keeping a clean sheet two times.
Meanwhile, with five wins in the first six matches, Gli Azzurri are currently a second-placed team in Serie A, with a 3-point deficit to Juventus thanks to a shocking performance in Genoa that saw Sampdoria crashing the last year’s runners-up by three goals to nil. However, in the previous two league matches, against Torino and Parma, the Little Donkeys have notched six goals combined, showing glimpses of their last season’s form, with Carlo Ancelotti urging his players to maintain the same level against the big rivals.
Mattia De Sciglio, Leonardo Spinazzola, and Sami Khedira are struggling with injuries and will have to watch the game from the stands, while Douglas Costa won’t be available due to a shameful behavior against Sassuolo that cost him a four-match ban. As for the visitors, Vlad Chiriches, Faouzi Ghoulam, Alex Meret, and Amin Younes won’t travel with the rest of the squad, as all are yet to return to full fitness.
