Juventus vs Chievo Verona 22/01/19

22 January 2019

Juventus welcome Chievo Verona to the Allianz Stadium looking to post seventh consecutive triumph over the vulnerable visitors.

The reigning holders come into this meeting after beating arch-rivals AC Milan in Supercoppa Italiana. The Bianconeri boast an almost perfect home record (W9, D1), having scored over 1.5 goals per match in seven of their ten Serie A home outings. However, four of Juventus’ last five home victories in all competitions have ended with the identical 1-0 scoreline in Juve’s favor. Still, Massimiliano Allegri’s players have racked a five-game home winning run in Serie A, keeping a clean sheet three times in the process. Only Inter Milan (4) have conceded fewer goals at home than Juventus (5) this term, with the Old Lady keeping a clean sheet five times so far.

On the other hand, dead-last Chievo have secured their elusive first Serie A triumph this campaign, beating Frosinone 1-0 at home just before the winter break. Still, the Yellow and Blues are among the worst road teams in Serie A (W0, D4, L5), having failed to hit the back of the net four times on nine Serie A road trips so far. Only four teams have shipped more goals away from home than Chievo (18), with Domenico Di Carlo’s players conceding over 1.5 goals per match six times this term. However, the Flying Donkeys have kept a clean sheet on two of their last four league road trips, including the one against Napoli. Nonetheless, it will be a daunting prospect for Chievo to pick up all three points at the Allianz Stadium considering they’ve failed to achieve a victory on their last 15 H2H meetings with Juventus in Turin.
