Juventus vs AC Milan 07/04/19

7 April 2019

Two of the most successful Italian clubs meet face-to-face at the Allianz Stadium this weekend as Serie A toppers Juventus tackle out-of-form AC Milan.

Sitting 18 points clear of second-placed Napoli, the hosts have virtually secured their eight back-to-back SA title with eight league fixtures left to go. The reigning holders come into this encounter off the back of two straight league wins in which they’ve scored three goals while conceding zero in the process. Remaining the only unbeaten home team in the Italian top tier, the Bianconeri boast an almost perfect home record (W13, D2) having picked up a maximum of nine points from their last three SA home outings. Only Inter (7) have shipped fewer goals at home than Juventus (9) this term, with Massimiliano Allegri’s men keeping eight clean sheets in 15 league home games. The Old Lady’s free-scoring form at the Allianz Stadium has ended with a narrow 1-0 win over Empoli, as Juve netted 3+ match goals in five straight competitive home games prior.

Meanwhile, a poor haul of one point from their last three SA fixtures has seen the visitors’ chances of reaching the Champions League promotion dropping drastically. Residing barely one point above fifth-placed Atalanta, the Rossoneri desperately hope for a positive outcome against a team who outplayed them in eight successive H2H SA meetings in Turin. Far more comfortable at home, Gennaro Gattuso’s crew has secured just 40.38% of their total league points away from home, mainly thanks to the fact they’ve scored one goal or less in nine of 14 SA road games. Although Milan failed to keep a clean sheet in ten SA away fixtures, they’ve allowed just 12 goals on the road so far on an average of 0.86 goals conceded per match. Another setback for the traveling side could be that they’ve pulled off just one win in seven H2Hs with SA’s top-six teams this term (W1, D3, L3), scoring one goal or less five times across those clashes.
