Jeonbuk Motors vs Seoul 26/07/20

26 July 2020

Jeonbuk Motors and Seoul will face off against each other at the Jeonju World Cup Stadium in a massive Korea K League 1 showdown this weekend, as the traveling side hope to break a ten-game winless run in the top-flight H2Hs (D2, L8).

The hosts have suffered a dip in form lately, going from five consecutive league victories to three successive games without a win (D2, L1). Interestingly, three of their six results (win/loss) during that sequence produced the identical 1-0 scoreline, which has been true in three of Jeonbuk’s four K League 1 home wins this season. Another tight contest is on the cards now, as all seven of their previous top-flight H2Hs held at this venue have ended separating the sides by under 1.5 goals (W4, D2, L1). The one thing the ‘Warriors’ have to improve is a lackadaisical first-half approach that has seen them draw a blank in the first 45 minutes in each of their five league home outings this term.

Meanwhile, the visitors take the field after failing to pick up three points in three K League 1 matches in a row (D1, L2), conceding over 1.5 goals on each of those occasions. What’s more, Seoul have not only struggled to keep a clean sheet in their opening six league trips of the season, but they’ve allowed a league-high 16 away goals in the process. Another potential worry for Choi Yong-soo is that his men have drawn a blank in three of their last four K League 1 trips. But, Seoul must be confident of finding the net here, given that they’ve scored at least once in all but one of their previous five top-flight H2Hs.
