Jeonbuk Motors vs Sangju Sangmu 23/08/20

23 August 2020

High-flying Jeonbuk Motors welcome out-of-sorts Sangju Sangmu to the Jeonju World Cup Stadium this weekend, looking to maintain an unbeaten home start to their 2020/21 K League 1 campaign.

A comfortable 3-1 away win over Suwon Bluewings last time out gave Jeonbuk a fifth consecutive win in all competitions and saw them score over 1.5 goals per league fixture for the fourth game in a row. The hosts have won all but one of their seven K League 1 home matches this term (D1), keeping a clean sheet on five of those occasions. The ‘Warriors’ now seem likely to extend their unbeaten home streak, as they take on a side they’ve won against in all three of their previous top-flight H2Hs held at this venue. Reigning champions often step up their attacking game after the break, with 83.33% (10) of the 12 league goals they’ve scored at home, so far, arriving in the second half.

As for the visitors, they have picked up just one win from their last four league matches (D1, L2), with three of those games seeing over 2.5 goals and both teams on the scoresheet. Away from home in K League 1, the ‘Firebirds’ are winless in three consecutive fixtures, all of which featured both sides hit the net (D2, L1). Having scored at least once in eight of their previous trips across all competitions, Sangju must be confident of scoring here despite drawing a blank in two of their last three top-flight visits. If they get on the scoresheet, Kim Tae-wan’s men are likely to do it after half-time, as 75% (6) of their eight league goals netted on the road came in the second half.
