Jeonbuk Motors vs Daegu

Jeonju World Cup Stadium plays host to Jeonbuk Motors’ high-profile K League 1 clash against playoff hopefuls Daegu.

An action-packed second half saw Jeonbuk Motors beat Suwon Bluewings 2-1 last time out and build on a morale-boosting 3-1 away triumph over fierce rivals Ulsan Hyundai. With four wins from five K League 1 fixtures (L1), the ‘Warriors’ are among the most in-form Korean sides. But before jumping to a conclusion, it’s worth noting that Jeonbuk’s abovementioned win over Bluewings arrested their underwhelming streak of six winless home league matches (D3, L3). Keen to post back-to-back top-flight home victories for the first time this season, Kim Sang-sik’s side will rely on their eye-catching H2H home record. Since a 2-0 defeat in September 2019, they’ve won four consecutive home league meetings with Daegu by an aggregate score of 9-3.

As for Daegu, a narrow 1-0 home triumph over Jeju United last time out helped them snap a frustrating run of consecutive league draws and retain the final playoff spot by the skin of their teeth. But with seventh-placed Seoul only one point adrift, the visitors cannot afford another sub-par performance if they are to stay where they are. That could be easier said than done, as Alexandre Gama’s lads have yet to win a single top-flight match on hostile turf this season (D5, L3). That includes a run of four successive stalemates, three of which featured an identical 1-1 scoreline.
