Jeonbuk Motors vs Buriram United 21/05/19

21 May 2019

Jeonbuk Motors and Buriram United will face-off at the Jeonju World Cup Stadium in the final match of the AFC Champions League group stage in contrasting circumstances.

The hosts will finish top of Group G regardless of the outcome of this encounter after securing four wins in the opening five games of the competition (W4, L1). Interestingly, four of those clashes have been settled by a narrow one-goal margin, with three of them ending with the identical 1-0 scoreline – two in Jeonbuk’s favor and one against. Still, the Green Warriors have scored over 1.5 match goals in both of their home games in the group stage, breaking the deadlock inside the opening 15 minutes in each. What’s more, José Morais’ men have clinched five wins in their last six home matches across all competitions (W5, L1), with Jeonbuk netting 2+ match goals in each of those triumphs.

Meanwhile, the rock-bottom visitors have no chance of closing the gap on second-placed Urawa after securing just one victory in five group stage fixtures (W1, L4). Furthermore, all four of their defeats at the competition have seen them concede over 1.5 match goals while they’ve also failed to find the net in both of their previous AFC CL away games. Another potential worry for the Thunder Castles is that they’ve kept only one clean sheet on their last four road trips across all competitions, allowing 2+ match goals twice in the process. However, Buriram’s only win so far has come in the reverse fixture in Thailand and has seen them beat Jeonbuk by a narrow 1-0 scoreline.
