Italy vs Bosnia and Herzegovina 12/06/19

12 June 2019

Resurgent Italy welcome Bosnia and Herzegovina to the Allianz Stadium in Torino, looking to post their fifth consecutive victory.

After a disappointing UEFA Nations League campaign, the hosts have improved a lot, starting their European Champions Qualification with three straight triumphs, all of which were accompanied by a clean sheet. Italy’s impressive defending seems to be their main strength at the moment, as Roberto Mancini’s men managed to preserve a clean slate in six straight games across all competitions, including one friendly match against the United States. Outstandingly, Italy’s last home defeat in a competitive game dates back to June 2016, after which they’ve racked up a ten-game unbeaten home run (W5, D5). Notably, eight of those matches have featured under 2.5 goals, while just two saw both teams score.

Meanwhile, the visitors have struggled to impress on the foreign turf over the past ten months, failing to pick up a victory in their last four away matches (D2, L2). Frustratingly for them, the Dragons have failed to find the net across all of those meetings, although they’ve managed to restrict their rivals to a maximum of one goal per match three times in the process. Robert Prosinečki’s men have also endured mixed fortunes at the beginning of their qualifying journey (W1, D1, L1), with two of those games featuring over 2.5 goals and seeing both teams score.
