Internazionale vs Lazio 26/09/19

26 September 2019

Midweek’s Serie A (SA) action pairs together Internazionale and Lazio for a massive league showdown that will take place at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza.

Currently sitting at the top of the league table, the hosts are the only Italian team that has won all four of the opening SA fixtures. Solid at the back and fairly prolific in the attack, the Nerazzurri have conceded just one league goal so far – less than any other team in the top-flight, while netting nine in the process. Inspired by an impressive 2-0 win over arch-rivals AC Milan back at the weekend, the Milanese giants will now try to settle the score with Lazio for a 1-0 SA home defeat last term. It was Inter’s last league failure at this venue, after which they won four of seven subsequent SA home outings (W4, D3). Although they’ve scored over 1.5 match goals on just three occasions in that span, Antonio Conte’s men have restricted their rivals to a maximum of one goal per match on all seven.

Meanwhile, the visitors go into this clash off the back of a 2-0 home triumph over Parma last time out, which was their second SA win this term (W2, D1, L1). Interestingly, while both of their SA victories saw them score 2+ match goals and keep a clean sheet, both of the Biancocelesti’s failures have witnessed the match hosts on the day lose 1-0 at halftime before reducing or overcoming the gap in the second half respectively (1-1 draw with Roma and 2-1 loss to SPAL). Notably, none of Lazio’s last eight SA trips have ended in a draw (W4, L4), with six of those results being settled by a narrow one-goal margin.
