Internazionale vs Fiorentina 27/09/20

27 September 2020

Backed by a 1-0 home triumph over Torino, Fiorentina head to the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza to take on Internazionale in an exciting Serie A showdown.

The Giuseppe Meazza was somewhat a fortress last season, as Inter suffered just two defeats from 19 Serie A home matches in 2019/20 (W11, D6). Remarkably, Antonio Conte’s men showed an impressive ability to bounce back after conceding the opening goal, winning three of five home league games in which they shipped the opener back last term (W3, D1, L1). The ‘Nerazzurri’ must be confident of carrying their outstanding home form into this clash, as they’ve won three of their previous four top-flight H2Hs held at this venue (D1). A high-scoring contest is well on the cards, though, considering three of their last five competitive home H2Hs have seen over 2.5 goals and both teams on the scoresheet.

Meanwhile, six of Fiorentina’s final eight Serie A trips back in 2019/20 had seen over 2.5 goals and both teams on the scoresheet (W4, D2, L2). But, the visitors’ hopes of landing all three points will hinge on whether they can find the opening goal or not. Indeed, the ‘Viola’ lost six of their seven away Serie A games in which they conceded the opener last season (W1, L6). Even though Giuseppe Iachini’s men managed a winning-rate of just 36.84% on the road in 2019/20, a clear majority (71.43%) of those victories yielded at least a two-goal margin (5/7). Particularly cagey before the break, Fiorentina conceded the division’s fourth-low nine first-half away goals back last season.
