Internazionale vs Cagliari 26/01/20

26 January 2020

Internazionale welcome Cagliari to the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza, looking to post their second successive win in Serie A (SA) H2Hs.

Although unbeaten in 13 consecutive league matches (W7, D5), the hosts have failed to pick up three points in both of their previous SA outings (D2), with both of those stalemates coming via the same 1-1 score. Also, the Nerazzurri have won just three of their last six SA home games (D3), although they’ve scored over 1.5 goals on four of those occasions. But, Antonio Conte must be looking for another success now, as the Milanese giants won both of their previous top-flight home H2Hs with Cagliari via multiple-goal margins and without conceding a single goal. Curiously, even though they’ve opened the scoring in seven of ten SA home fixtures so far this season, Inter have found the net inside the opening 15 minutes of play just once to date.

The visitors are going through a rough time, having lost four of their last six SA fixtures, drawing the other two. Frustratingly for the traveling side, each of those matches during that six-game sequence has seen Cagliari concede two or more goals, with the Sardinians scoring one or less in four. Things get worse for Ronaldo Maran’s side when they play away from home. Indeed, they’ve secured only one triumph in their previous eight SA road trips (D5, L2), with six of those matches seeing both teams score. Still, ‘I Rossoblu’ found the opening goal in seven of ten SA away games this campaign but failed to hold on to that lead on four of those occasions (D4).
