Inter Milan vs Tottenham Hotspur 19/09/18
19 September 2018
Apart from Barcelona and PSV, Inter Milan and Tottenham Hotspur are also allocated to Group B, with the Milanese giants preparing to take on the London side at the Stadio San Siro on the Champions League opening matchday.
The Nerazzurri have been quite busy this summer, wrapping up a few notable signings, including those of Radja Nainggolan and Stefan De Vrij, but so far, Luciano Spalletti has failed to pull all the pieces together. Only last weekend, the Black and Blues lost to Parma at home by a goal to nil, which was their second defeat in Serie A this season following a 1-0 loss to Sassuolo on the road. Additionally, Inter are yet to achieve a victory at home this season, as they played out a 2-2 draw with Torino in their first home match in the new campaign, and Spalletti has to come up with something special if looking to start the Champions League adventure in a proper manner.
On the other hand, after an impressive start of the season in the Premier League that saw them securing three consecutive victories, over Newcastle United, Fulham, and Manchester United, the Spurs have slowed down a bit. Mauricio Pochettino’s side have suffered two straight defeats, to Watford and Liverpool, with the latter storming through the Wembley Stadium last weekend.
According to the reports, Lautaro Martinez won’t be able to help his Inter teammates due to a leg injury, while Vincent Janssen and Hugo Lloris won’t travel to Italy with the rest of the squad. The presence of Dele Alli is also at risk after the talented England international felt a muscle pain on the training ground.
