Inter Milan vs Monza
Inter Milan and Monza are set to trade tackles in a handsomely-looking Serie A encounter at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza.
Inter Milan boss Simone Inzaghi threw his stuttering managerial career a lifeline with a 2-0 win at Porto in midweek Champions League action, bringing his side on the brink of their first semi-final appearance in Europe’s elite competition since 2010. However, things are not looking good for Inter in Serie A. After losing three consecutive league games, ‘I Nerazzurri’ could only manage a 1-1 draw at Salernitana last weekend, falling outside the top four for the first time in 2023. But since only one point separates them from fourth-placed AC Milan at the start of this round, the hosts are still in contention for Champions League qualification. Adding to their confidence, they’ve not lost any of their last 28 Serie A clashes against newly-promoted sides (W24, D4), netting a staggering 78 goals in the process.
In the meantime, Monza and Udinese shared the spoils in a topsy-turvy 2-2 draw at the Dacia Arena last time out as the visitors take this trip winless in four straight league matches (D3, L1). Away from home, Raffaele Palladino’s men have gone winless in their last three league games (D2, L1), conceding an average of two goals per match in this run. Despite their patchy form, they are still 13 points clear of the drop zone and are likely to keep their top-flight status regardless of the outcome at Meazza. Palladino’s lads will be confident about scoring, though, having found the net in seven of their eight competitive away outings in 2023. On top of that, Monza held Inter to a goal-glutted 2-2 draw in the reverse fixture, highlighting the potential for another action-packed contest.
