Inter Milan vs Frosinone

Giuseppe Meazza is the venue as Inter Milan and Frosinone go head-to-head in their first Serie A showdown since April 2019.

Inter Milan secured a third consecutive Champions League knockout progression with two games to spare, courtesy of a 1-0 win at RB Salzburg in midweek, maintaining their perfect competitive record since the last international break (W5). That run includes three victories in Serie A, including a hard-earned 2-1 triumph at Atalanta in the previous round, which completed their joint-best 28 points tally after the first 11 matches since 1994/95. But there’s no room for complacency as they failed to win the Scudetto twice in the previous three such instances. Despite their sterling start, Simone Inzaghi’s men have blown hot and cold across their last three home league outings (W1, D1, L1). Frosinone’s visit, therefore, is a timely one. Inter have won all four previous Serie A H2Hs via a combined score of 11-1.

In the meantime, Frosinone continued to defy the odds in Serie A with a 2-1 home triumph over bottom-half Empoli last weekend, joining a select group of 28 newly-promoted clubs to have tallied 15+ points after the first 11 matches. On top of that, Eusebio Di Francseco’s side exceeded expectations in the Coppa Italia, overcoming Torino 2-1 after extra-time. Unfortunately, that result remains their solitary success on hostile turf this season, with the ‘Canaries’ going winless on all five Serie A travels (D2, L3), conceding 2+ goals on their last three on the trot. Frosinone’s most recent league trip was an epic one as they squandered a 3-0 lead to lose 4-3 to fellow promoted rivals Cagliari.
