Inter Milan vs Benevento 14/01/19

14 January 2019

Inter Milan will take on Benevento at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza in the Coppa Italia round of 16, as Luciano Spalletti hopes to see his players solving their issues in the final third.

Unbeaten in the past five encounters in all competitions (W3, D2) the Milanese giants are looking to post their third consecutive home win and extend an impressive home run (W8, D2). Goals have been in short supply in each of Inter’s last six encounters with all of them producing under 2.5 goals, while four of them ended with the identical 1-0 scoreline in or against Inter’s favor. The Nerazzurri’s problems in the final third have seen them score under 1.5 goals per match nine times in the previous 11 meetings in all competitions. Their main strength is a strong defensive unit that managed to keep a clean sheet four times in Inter’s last ten competitive outings, preventing the opponents from scoring over 1.5 goals per match eight times in the process.

Meanwhile, the visitors are unbeaten in their last four Serie B clashes (W2, D2), but their problems away from home have seen them secure just one win on their previous six road trips (W1, D3, L2). Two of the Stregoni’s last three road meetings ended with the identical 0-0 scoreline, with Benevento securing a narrow 1-0 triumph against Padova on their latest road trip. Just like Inter’s, Benevento’s game is also based on a stubborn defense that has managed three clean sheets in the last five competitive outings, allowing one goal or less per match in eight successive games in all competitions. Six of the Sorcerers’ previous eight clashes have produced under 2.5 goals, with Cristian Bucchi’s men scoring over 1.5 goals per match just twice in that period.
