Huesca vs Valencia 06/05/19

6 May 2019

Rock-bottom Huesca welcome a struggling Valencia side to the Estadio El Alcoraz obliged to wrap up all three points to keep their hopes of avoiding relegation alive.

Although unbeaten in their last six LL outings, the hosts have pulled off just one victory in that period (D5), with all four of their previous LL games featuring under 2.5 goals. Sitting seven points adrift of 17th-placed Girona, the returnees desperately need a win here, as there are just nine points left at the table. Far more comfortable at home, Oscenses have captured four of their six league triumphs at this venue, while 18 of a total of their 30 LL points have come here (60%). Even though they’ve kept two clean sheets in their last four LL clashes, Francisco’s men hold LL’s fourth worst defensive record having shipped 56 goals in 35 league games so far. On the other hand, Azulgranas have netted 2+ match goals in three of their previous five LL home clashes, failing to find the net only against Barcelona in that span.

Meanwhile, rocked by a 3-1 away loss to Arsenal in their midweek’s Europa League encounter, the visitors are desperate to post their first LL victory after back-to-back losses. Although they’ve established themselves as LL’s ‘draw specialists,’ none of Valencia’s last ten competitive games have ended without a winner (W6, L4). The Bats have to make the most out of this meeting if they want to secure a top-four finish as they currently reside three points below fourth-placed Getafe. Before their drop-off in form, the Oranges have put together four wins across all competitions, scoring over 1.5 match goals in each. Still, Valencia’s inability to keep a clean sheet has seen them concede at least one goal in eight of their previous nine competitive games, allowing 2+ match goals three times though.
