Huesca vs Real Madrid 09/12/18

09 December 2018

Huesca and Real Madrid will face-off at the Estadio El Alcoraz in contrasting circumstances. While the visitors steadily approach the top four, the hosts are struggling to find a way out of the relegation zone.

Rooted to the bottom of the table as one of two teams with just one La Liga triumph after the opening 14 league fixtures, the hosts’ disastrous season has reached another low following a humiliating 4-0 loss to Atheltic Bilbao in Copa del Rey in midweek. Winless in their last 15 competitive encounters, Francisco Rodriguez’s men have lost nine of their previous 12 La Liga clashes, as their only LL success dates back to late August. Huesca’s tally of 29 conceded goals (2.07 per match on average) is comfortably a league high. What’s more, the returnees are the only team in the Spanish top flight that is yet to keep a clean sheet in all 14 league games thus far.

The visitors have endured a turbulent period under Julen Lopetegui, as they come into this meeting with three consecutive wins across all competitions, including the 6-1 triumph over the lower-league outfit Melilla in midweek’s Copa del Rey encounter. Los Blancos have won three out of their previous four league matches and now tackle a vulnerable Huesca side that is yet to pick a victory at home this campaign. However, Santiago Solari’s potential worry could be the fact his players have lost four out of last five La Liga road games, including the one against Eibar a fortnight ago. Furthermore, Los Merengues have failed to keep a clean sheet on all of their seven road trips in La Liga this year, conceding 16 goals in the run.

Provisional line-up – Real Madrid:
