Huddersfield Town vs Leicester City 06/04/19

6 April 2019

Dead-last Huddersfield Town welcome the Europe League promotion fighters Leicester City to the Kirklees Stadium as the visitors look to post their fourth successive Premier League win and boost their chances of securing European football.

A genuinely underwhelming Premier League campaign has culminated in Huddersfield’s relegation, with the hosts clinching just three wins in 32 league fixtures (W3, D5, L24). The Terriers come into this meeting after suffering four straight league losses, conceding nine goals while failing to find the back of the net three times across those matches. Huddersfield’s tally of seven goals scored at home is by far the league’s lowest, with Jan Siewert’s men struggling to hit the net in nine of 16 PL home outings. Another problem for Siewert is Huddersfield’s disastrous home record against teams from the upper half of the table (W1, L6) as the Terriers failed to score in six clashes with sides from 10th to 1st place.

Meanwhile, the visitors go into this encounter off the back off three back-to-back PL triumphs in which they’ve scored seven goals while conceding two in the process. Sitting three points adrift of seventh-placed Wolverhampton, the Foxes still stake a claim on the Europe League promotion with six PL fixtures left to go. A 2-1 away win over Burnley has brought Leicester’s frustrating five-game road winning run to an end (D1, L4). However, Brendan Rodgers is still unable to solve his team’s defensive frailties that have seen them concede at least one goal in six consecutive road games while allowing 2+ match goals four times along the way.
