Haiti vs Costa Rica 25/06/19

25 June 2019

Haiti and Costa Rica will battle it out for the top place in Group B when the two nations face-off at the Red Bull Arena in Harrison at midweek.

Haiti’s strong start to the tournament has seen them beat Bermuda and Nicaragua, with Marc Collat’s men netting precisely two goals per match in each while conceding just one goal in the process. As a result, Les Grenadiers are now on a three-game winning streak that has come just after Marc Collat’s men suffered back-to-back losses to El Salvador and Chile during the Gold Cup warm-up campaign. Haiti’s matches in 2019 have not been short of entertainment though, as four of their six games since the turn of the year produced over 2.5 goals, with all of them witnessing goals at both ends.

Meanwhile, sitting top of their respective group thanks to a better goal difference than Costa Rica, Gustavo Matosas’ men have won both of their previous games at the tournament, having scored six and allowed only one goal across those matches. Encouraged by recent performances, Los Ticos will now look to stretch their unbeaten run against Haiti to nine games (W4, D4), with Costa Rica beating their CONCACAF rivals in all four of their previous H2H meetings. Interestingly, though, all four of Costa Rica’s warm-up games in 2019 have featured under 2.5 goals, with three of them ending with the identical 1-0 scoreline (W1, L2).
