Guingamp vs Paris Saint-Germain 18/08/18
18 August 2018
After a tight 2-1 defeat to Sent Etienne on the road last week, Guingamp will have the most severe task, as they look to host Paris Saint-Germain at the Stade du Roudourou, hoping to avoid second straight loss. Antoine Kombouaré’s side has had a prolific off-season campaign, as they have achieved four victories out of five warm-up matches they’ve played, drawing only with Brest in the process following an average last season where they’ve finished in the middle of the table. The Ligue 1 holders have started the new season with a routine 3-0 triumph over Caen at the Parc des Princes, despite numerous absences, with the most notable ones related to the likes of Mbappe, Veratti, Dani Alves, and Cavani, with only the 19-year-old prodigy expected to rejoin Neymar and Di Maria for the trip to Brittany. The Parisians have already won their first title under the new manager, as Thomas Tuchel’s side achieved an outstanding 4-0 win over AS Monaco in the French Super Cup. The home side will seek their first win over the French giants since 2016 when they pulled off a 2-1 victory at home.
Kombouaré will have all of his first-team members at his disposal, while Tuchel won’t be able to count on Dani Alves, Veratti, Alves, and Kurzawa, as all are struggling with injuries.
