Gibraltar vs Denmark 06/09/19

6 September 2019

Unbeaten in their last seven competitive outings (W3, D4) Denmark travel to the Victoria Stadium to take on the Group D rock-bottom Gibraltar.

Big underdogs to prevail in this clash, the visitors have suffered six consecutive losses ahead of this meeting, five of which have seen them fail to find the net. The Team 54 lost all three of their opening qualifying games without scoring a goal, with one of them arriving at home (1-0 loss to the Republic of Ireland). Although they’ve already conceded six goals in their qualifying campaign, none of them has come inside the opening 25 minutes, with four of them arriving after the halftime break. Apart from a historic 2-1 win over Lichtenstein, Gibraltar have lost all 13 of their remaining competitive home matches, 12 of which have seen them go down by a multiple-goal margin.

As for the visitors, they go into this encounter off the back of a 5-1 home win over Georgia, which was their maiden win in Group D following back-to-back draws with Switzerland and the Republic of Ireland. Notably, all three of Denmark’s qualifying matches have seen both teams score, with two of those games featuring over 5.5 total goals. Backed by a run of good away form, Denmark will look for a routine win here that would boost their chances in the pursuit of a top spot in Group D. The Danish Dynamite are unbeaten in their last eight trips in all competitions, the 2018 FIFA World Cup excluded (W5, D3).
