Geylang International vs DPMM

Geylang International’s bid to win back-to-back Singapore Premier League matches for only the second time this season faces a manageable task in the shape of DPMM as the two sides meet at Tampines Stadium.

It’s mostly been ‘all or nothing’ for Geylang International this season, with only one of their 14 Singapore Premier League fixtures ending level (W6, L7). But a lack of consistency remains the elephant in the room, as their last four league matches have fluctuated between victories (2) and defeats (2). A high-scoring theme was a common denominator in that span, with three of those four games featuring over 2.5 goals and two yielding the same 3-2 scoreline (W1, L1). Tampines Stadium has been a venue of entertainment this term – each of Geylang’s six league outings here has contained 3+ total goals, with as many as four producing 2+ first-half strikes. Connoisseurs of action-packed football will be hoping both teams can score in a fourth consecutive league H2H at Tampines Stadium, with their last three meetings here averaging 5.66 goals per match.

Visiting DPMM got back on the rails with an overwhelming 6-0 home triumph over whipping boys Young Lions last weekend, curtailing a frustrating run of four league defeats beforehand. That result also marked only DPMM’s second clean sheet in 15 games in the 2023 Singapore Premier League season. Their only previous shutout came in a 3-0 drubbing of Hougang United in March, but they’ve ominously conceded 2+ goals in four consecutive away league matches since (D1, L3). Particularly vulnerable beyond halftime, Adrian Pennock’s men have registered a clear majority (67%) of their top-flight goals conceded on the road this term in the second half of play (8/12). They can at least find some comfort in the fact 75% of their away goals scored arrived in that same timeframe (6/8).
