Getafe vs Cordoba 05/12/18

05 December 2018

After a tight 2-1 road win in the first leg, Getafe will host Cordoba at the Coliseum Alfonso Perez in the return leg of the round of 16 of the Copa del Rey.

A 3-0 win over Espanyol last weekend has brought Getafe’s three-game winless run to an end, and it was also the first time they have managed to keep a clean sheet after four straight matches in which they conceded exactly one goal. Although the Azulones won two out of their last five home clashes, they have lost the remaining three games without scoring a single goal in the run. If El Geta achieve a victory in this meeting, it will most likely be a win to nil as all of their seven home triumphs in 2018 saw them keeping a clean sheet. Jose Bordalas’ players have failed to score a goal once in their last seven competitive encounters, but they have scored a minimum of two goals four times during that period.

The visitors, meanwhile, are going through a severe crisis, which has seen them suffering three defeats in their last four matches in the Segunda Division. Although a 1-1 tie with Elche ended their three-game losing streak, Los Califas are rooted in the relegation zone with eight losses after the opening 16 league fixtures. Los Blanquiverdes have lost six out of eight road clashes this season, securing one win while playing out one draw in the process. Moreover, with 33 goals conceded so far, they have the worst defensive record in their respective division, while they have failed to keep a clean sheet nine times in their last ten competitive games.
