Germany vs Turkey 08/10/20

08 October 2020

Germany will be looking to post a fourth consecutive win over Turkey when the two nations meet at the RheinEnergieStadion in an international friendly match.

Despite both of their outings during the last international break yielded the identical 1-1 scoreline, the hosts go into this encounter on the back of a seven-game unbeaten run (W4, D3). Interestingly, each of their four wins during the aforementioned streak saw Germany score over 1.5 second-half goals and beat their opponent on the day via at least a two-goal margin. ‘Die Mannschaft’ have been a pretty exciting team to watch on the home ground lately, as five of their last six home games have produced over 3.5 goals, with Joachim Low’s men netting an intimidating average of 3.83 goals across that sequence. Also, Germany boast an almost perfect home record against Turkey (W6, D2), with all but one of those six wins yielding at least a two-goal margin.

Meanwhile, the visitors have suffered a dip in form, going from three consecutive victories to winning just once in five matches (W1, D3, L1). Low scoring has been a theme for Turkey across that eight-game sequence, as only one of those matches has seen both teams on the scoresheet, with seven featuring under 2.5 goals too. A genuine lack of firepower in the attacking third has seen the ‘Crescent-Stars’ fail to get on the scoresheet in three of their last four fixtures, which has been the case in just one of their previous six trips though. Senol Gunes can rely on his team’s robust defense that has kept a clean sheet in four of their last six games away from home.
