Genoa vs Internazionale 26/07/20

26 July 2020

Internazionale head to the Stadio Luigi Ferraris to take on Genoa, seeking a fourth consecutive win in their Serie A H2Hs. Notably, all three of their previous victories have yielded a clean sheet and a full-time margin of at least four goals.

The hosts have endured mixed fortunes across their last five Serie A fixtures (W3, L2), with three of those results (win/loss) producing the identical 2-1 scoreline. Indeed, a draw has not been an option for Genoa at home this calendar year (W4, L5), with seven of those nine games seeing over 2.5 goals and both teams on the scoresheet. A lack of concentration after the break has witnessed the Griffins ship 61.90% (13) of the 21 Serie A home goals conceded in the second half of play. However, the ‘clean-sheet’ theme should not be neglected as of yet, given that all four of their previous top-flight H2Hs held at this venue have seen the winner on the day keep a blank sheet (W3, L1).

Meanwhile, a goalless home draw with Fiorentina last time out gave Inter a fifth Serie A match without a loss (W2, D3), although it was the first time since the resumption of football that the ‘Nerazzurri’ failed to score. Indeed, free-scoring Inter had netted over 1.5 goals in eight of nine Serie A games prior to their clash against Fiorentina – managing an average of 2.77 goals across those encounters. Also, the Milanese giants have been an exciting team to watch away from home lately. Three of Inter’s four Serie A trips post restart have featured over 2.5 goals and both sides scoring.
