Fulham vs Manchester City 30/03/19
30 March 2019
Fulham and Manchester City face-off against each other at the Craven Cottage in quite opposing circumstances. While the visitors head towards Championship, the hosts are engaged in the Premier League title run-in with Liverpool.
Sitting 19th in the table, the returnees will probably return to the English second tier considering they sit 13 points adrift of 17th-placed Burnley, with seven fixtures left to play. The Cottagers come into this meeting after suffering seven consecutive PL defeats, conceding over 1.5 goals per match in each. In the same period, Scott Parker’s men have failed to hit the net three times, scoring exactly one goal per game in the remaining four. Fulham’s tally of 70 goals conceded in 31 league outings is by far the worst defensive record in the English top flight, with the Whites preserving just one clean slate in 15 PL home clashes. Interestingly, four of Fulham’s last five home losses have ended with the same 2-1 scoreline against their favor.
Meanwhile, the visitors have racked up a six-game Premier League winning run in the build-up to this encounter. The Citizens have bagged 16 goals and conceded just two during that period. Although Pep Guardiola’s players scored more goals than any other team in the league (79) just 32.91% of those goals have arrived away from home. But, along with Liverpool, the reigning PL holders have conceded fewest goals on the road in the PL this campaign (9), keeping a clean sheet in three of their last four league road trips. Additionally, Man City have secured four triumphs on five of their previous visits to the Craven Cottage (W4, D1), netting 2+ match goals every time.
