Frosinone vs Lazio 05/02/19

05 February 2019

The Serie A relegation battlers go head-to-head with the Champions League promotion contenders as Frosinone host Lazio to the Stadio Benito Stirpe.

An outstanding 4-0 road win over Bologna last weekend has brought Frosinone’s ten-game Serie A winless run to an end (D5, L5), and it was also the third times the returnees have managed to score over 2.5 goals per match this campaign. Still, only Chievo Verona (1) achieved fewer wins than Frosinone (2) this term, as the hosts still chase their elusive first home triumph since returning to the top flight (D5, L5). Another worrying fact for Marco Baroni is that his players scored just six goals in ten SA home clashes, which is the worst attacking record in the Italian top tier. The defense can’t console the manager either, as Frosinone share the worst defensive record in Serie A having conceded 21 goals at home, allowing over 1.5 goals per match six times so far.

Meanwhile, a poor haul of just one point in their last three Serie A meetings has seen Lazio sliding down to eighth place, but they are still only three points adrift of fourth-placed AC Milan. The visitors are going after the first league victory in 2019 having lost two of three SA clashes after the break (D1, L2). However, Lazio’s indifferent road form (W4, D2, L4) can hardly encourage Simone Inzaghi, especially knowing his players have pulled off just one triumph in their last five SA road meetings (W1, D2, L2). Furthermore, only 36% of a total of 30 goals the Biancocelsti have scored this term have come on the road, with Lazio bagging over 1.5 goals per match on five of ten SA road trips.
