Freiburg vs Borussia Monchengladbach 27/10/18
27 October 2018
Freiburg are set to host Borussia Monchengladbach at the Schwarzwald-Stadion, hoping to end a 3-game winless Bundesliga streak.
With a record of two wins, three draws, and three defeats, the Breisgau-Brasilianer are currently tied for 11th place, with just a 3-point lead over the relegation zone based clubs. Christian Streich’s players are having problems collecting points at home this season, having achieved just one league triumph in front of the home supporters out of a total of four matches. Moreover, prior to a scoreless draw with Bayer Leverkusen, Freiburg have failed to beat Eintracht Frankfurt and Stuttgart, only outscoring Schalke 04 in the process. However, four out of the last five games in Freiburg have seen the hosts walking away with whole prey, with Borussia Monchengladbach securing just one draw.
On the other hand, Die Fohlen are undefeated in the previous four Bundesliga clashes, having outplayed Bayern Munich at the Allianz Stadium, as well as, Mainz and Eintracht Frankfurt. With 19 goals scored so far, the Borussians have the second-best attacking record in the German top flight after Borussia Dortmund who notched 27. However, Dieter Hecking’s side has immense problems away from the Borussia-Park, having won just one out of four road games, while playing out two draws and losing once in the process. Additionally, Borussia failed to keep a clean sheet away from home three successive times before hammering the Bavarians by three goals to nil.
Florian Niederlechner, Amir Abrashi, Caleb Stanko, Brandon Borrello, and Florian Kath are all struggling with injuries in the home squad and may have to skip the encounter. As for the visitors, Louis Jordan Beyer and Raffael are doubts, as both are yet to return to full fitness.
