France vs Gibraltar

France will be looking to maintain their reign of dominance in Euro 2024 qualifying Group B when they encounter Gibraltar at Allianz Riviera in Nice.

Despite racking up maximum points from their opening six Euro 2024 qualifying games, France won’t be in a forgiving mood as they seek another perfect Euro qualifying campaign. They achieved flawless qualifying cycles for Euro 1992 and 2004, and with Gibraltar coming to Nice, they’ll likely be one game away from replicating that feat. Having won eight of their 12 home Euro qualifiers ‘to nil’ since 2010 (W10, D2), ‘Les Bleus’ ought to take the field in high spirits, looking to cement their status as one of the six seeded teams for the upcoming tournament. Since thumping Gibraltar 3-0 in the reverse fixture, Didier Deschamps’ men have registered four wins in five international outings (L1), with three of those five results yielding a single-goal margin.

In the meantime, visiting Gibraltar would probably sign up for a slender defeat ahead of the kick-off after losing all six Euro 2024 qualifying matches by 3+ goals ‘to nil,’ accumulating a disastrous 0-21 aggregate scoreline. In fact, since gaining admission to UEFA in 2013, ‘Los Llanis’ have lost all 24 of their Euro qualifiers, conceding an alarming 4.5 goals on average per match. On that basis, it’s barely a surprise they languish in 198th out of 207 nations in the FIFA men’s rankings. Gibraltar could hit a new low in the ongoing cycle, as they risk going the entire Euro qualifying campaign without scoring for the first time. Given the stature of their hosts, expecting them to find the net here would be overly optimistic.
