Fortuna Dusseldorf and Borussia Monchengladbach go head-to-head at the Esprit Arena as the host look for revenge on a 3-0 road loss from the first half of the season.

The returnees come into this meeting off the back of back-to-back Bundesliga defeats, in which they’ve conceded eight goals while scoring just two in the process. Although they are enduring another turbulent period, the hosts have virtually secured their top-flight status for another season, as they sit 11 points above 16th-placed Stuttgart. Dusseldorf are the only team in the German top tier that is yet to play out a draw at home for the entire campaign (W6, L7). Interestingly, all five of the Flingeraner’s previous BL home losses have seen them failed to find the back of the net, while all seven of their BL home wins saw them score 2+ match goals. Although they’ve performed a stunning 2-1 home win over Borussia Dortmund, Friedhelm Funkel’s men have failed to cope with the likes of other top-six BL teams, suffering four defeats in the remaining H2Hs with the German elite sides.

On the other hand, a disappointing run of form that has seen them register just one triumph in the previous six BL fixtures (W1, D2, L3) is the reason the visitors’ chances of reaching the Champions League promotion are on the line. All three of Monchengladbach’s defeats in that period have seen them allow 3+ match goals while scoring barely one in the process. The Foals’ recent lackluster performances in the final third are the main reason for their form downfall, with Dieter Hecking’s players gobbling just three goals in their last six league clashes. However, the Prussians are unbeaten on their previous four BL road trips (W3, D1), with all three of their wins in that period saw them beating their rivals to nil.
