Fiorentina vs Inter Milan 25/02/19

25 February 2019

The two in-form sides are set to meet face-to-face as Fiorentina welcome Inter Milan to the Stadio Artemio Franchi.

Unbeaten in their last eight games across all competitions (W4, D4), the hosts hope to challenge for the Europa League promotion. Currently sitting eighth, with a three-point deficit to sixth-placed Atalanta, the Viola go into this meeting off the back of a stunning 4-1 road triumph over SPAL. However, Stefano Pioli and his players chase their elusive first Serie A home victory in 2019 having failed to wrap up all three points in three SA home outings after the Christmas break (D2, L1). For Fiorentina, goals have been coming in sequences. Either they torment the opposite goalkeeper or draw a blank. In their last six competitive home clashes, the Lilies have failed to find the net in three games, while scoring 3+ match goals in the remaining three. Pioli’s main concern still relates to his team’s defending. Fiorentina have struggled to preserve a clean slate in seven successive home matches before playing out a goalless draw with Napoli.

Meanwhile, the visitors have racked up a four-game winning run across all competitions, as they come into this encounter following a commanding 4-0 victory over Rapid Vienna in the Europa League. The most important thing for Luciano Spalletti is that his players managed to score 2+ match goals in back-to-back appearances for the first time since early November. Inter’s enormous problems in the final third have seen them score one goal or less in nine consecutive SA clashes before beating Sampdoria 2-1 last time out. The Nerazzurri’s main strength remains their excellent defending that has seen them concede one goal or less in 14 of their last 15 competitive outings. However, the Milanese giants can’t be happy to travel to Firenca at this moment, considering they’ve lost three of their last four H2H meetings with the Viola at this venue.
