Everton vs West Ham United 16/09/18
16 September 2018
After four consecutive league defeats, West Ham United will travel to Liverpool where they are going to face Everton at the Goodison Park, desperately trying to walk away with some points.
In the opening four fixtures, the Toffies played out three draws, including the one against Huddersfield Town at home before the international break, while their only victory came against Southampton in the second matchday. Marco Silva’s players have found the back of the net in each of four games so far, but they also failed to keep their own goal, allowing Bournemouth and Wolverhampton to bag two goals apiece.
The arrival of Manuel Pellegrini was welcomed as a top acquisition, but the very man who managed Manchester City to the Premier League title in his debutant Premier League season may pack his bags after only five matches on the Hammers’ bench. Four games and four defeats with a devastating -8 goal difference pushed the East London side to the bottom of the table, and in case they fail to grab their first points this weekend, the Argentine could be on his way out of the London Stadium. Liverpool, Bournemouth, Arsenal, and Wolves are the teams that have outclassed West Ham so far, and it’s not the results, but the inability to keep a clean sheet is what’s tormenting their supporters.
Beni Baningime, Yerry Mina, James McCarthy, and Andre Gomes are all struggling with injuries, while Richarlison won’t be able to play after picking up a red card against the Cherries. As for the visitors, Winston Reid, Manuel Lanzini, and Andy Carroll are expected to remain on the sidelines due to various physical issues.
