Estonia vs Netherlands 10/09/19
10 September 2019
Estonia and the Netherlands go head-to-head at the A. Le Coq Arena for their UEFA European Championship qualifying (ECQ) encounter.
The hosts are facing astronomical odds to improve on their qualifying performances here after losing all four of their previous ECQ matches. Both of their qualifying home games have ended with the same 2-1 scoreline against their favor and had been followed by a similar scenario. Erik Sorga was the one to score for Estonia in both of those games only to see his side concede two goals in the second half. As a result, the Estonias have now lost seven of their last nine competitive home games (W1, D1, L7), five of which have seen them concede precisely two goals. Things are unlikely to change here, as they meet a team to whom they’ve conceded two or more goals per match in both of their previous home H2Hs.
Fresh from a stunning 4-2 away win over Germany, the Netherlands will be looking to close a three-point gap on Die Mannschaft by securing their third win in Group C (W2, L1). Notably, all three of the Oranje’s ECQ matches have featured over 3.5 goals, with all of them seeing them score two or more goals in the second half. After enduring mixed fortunes in their last eight trips in all competitions (W3, D2, L3), the visitors will be eager to impress away from home, as they take on a nation, who they’ve beaten in three of their previous four H2Hs (W3, D1). Free-scoring Netherlands side have netted 2+ match goals in six of their last eight competitive games, failing to find the net only once in the process.
