Espanyol vs Leganes 05/01/19
05 January 2019
Espanyol and Levante will face-off at the RCDE Stadium as hosts hope to bring a disastrous six-game losing La Liga streak to an end.
Espanyol’s last league win dates back to early November, which was also the last time they’ve managed to keep a clean sheet. Furthermore, the Periquitos’ offensive approach at home has not seen a draw in eight La Liga clashes (W5, D3). After a promising start that has seen them securing five consecutive league victories at home in which they’ve conceded just one goal, the Blanquiazules have lost three successive home encounters, conceding at least three goals per match. Also, Rubi’s men have scored one goal or less in six out of eight home La Liga outings, which is the joint-worst tally in the Spanish top tier competition.
On the other hand, the visitors are unbeaten in their last seven La Liga games (W2, D5), but they’ve failed to wrap up all three points in the previous three league fixtures. Six of those seven encounters produced under 2.5 goals, with Leganes scoring and conceding one goal or less in each. However, still uncomfortable on the road, Los Pepineros have secured just one triumph in nine away meetings, collecting only six points in the process. Moreover, Mauricio Pellegrino’s players have scored more than one goal per match just once on the road this term, which is the joint-worst tally in the Spanish top flight.
