El Salvador vs Brazil 12/09/18
12 September 2018
After clinching a significant 2-1 victory over Montserrat in the CONCACAF Nations League encounter, El Salvador will face Brazil in an international friendly that shall take place at the FedEx Field in Summerfield, Maryland.
A duel with the 5-time World Cup winners will be La Selecta’s only third match in 2018, as they’ve also defeated Honduras by a narrow 1-goal margin before the Nations League opener. Carlos De Los Cobos is well aware his side will have virtually no chance against the South American heavyweights, but even an opportunity of playing against the team of Brazil’s quality will undoubtedly help the Salvadorians to gain some experience and improve on a tactical level.
On the other hand, the Seleção defeated the United States a few days ago by a comfortable 2-goal difference, with both goals came in the first half. Tite is eager to see his players making a proper reaction after a disappointing World Cup elimination by Belgium in the quarter-finals, as Brazil gear up for a return to competitive play in 2019. Although there is a big gap in quality between these two sides, the former Corinthians manager urges his team to enter the game fully focused.
Jaime Alas, Arturo Álvarez, and Óscar Cerén are expected to hold down the midfield for the North Americans, while Barcelona midfielder Arthur and Manchester United starlet Andreas Pereira might get a chance of making their first ever start for Brazil.
