Eintracht Frankfurt vs Nurnberg 17/03/19
17 March 2019
Encouraged by the midweek’s Europa League triumph over Inter Milan, Eintracht Frankfurt will welcome Nurnberg to the Commerzbank-Arena looking to stretch a four-game Bundesliga home unbeaten run (W2, D2).
The hosts are not only undefeated in all 12 of their competitive clashes in 2019 (W6, D6), but they come into this encounter after racking up a three-game Bundesliga winning streak during which they’ve scored nine goals while keeping a clean sheet twice. Frankfurt’s main strength at the moment is their impressive backline that has preserved four clean slates in their last five outings across all competitions. But, the Eagles have conceded at least one goal in seven successive BL home fixtures, remaining at just one clean sheet in 12 BL home clashes so far. Only two teams have scored more goals at home than Frankfurt (27) with Adi Hütter’s men bagging 2+ match goals six times this term. A potential worry for Hütter could, however, be the fact Die Adler failed to beat Nurnberg in all three of their previous H2H meetings at this venue (D3).
On the other hand, dead-last Nurnberg seem to be heading to the second tier, one year after securing the Bundesliga promotion. The visitors have not only lost six of their eight BL games in 2019 (D2, L6), but their last league triumph dates back to late September. Faced with certain relegation, Der Club chase their elusive first BL road triumph (D2, L10) as they remain one of two teams that are yet to pick up all three points away from home this campaign. Furthermore, no team has shipped more goals away from home than Nurnberg (35) with Boris Schommers’ players allowing over 1.5 goals per match ten times in 12 BL road fixtures this term. Die Legende’s lackluster attacking performances just eight goals on the road so far, which is the worst BL offensive road record in the German top flight.
