Eintracht Frankfurt vs Inter Milan 08/03/19

8 March 2019

Eintracht Frankfurt and Inter Milan go toe-to-toe in the first leg of their Europa League round-of-16 tie as the German giants look to post their third consecutive triumph at the Commerzbank-Arena.

Unbeaten in their last six home outings across all competitions (W4, D2), the hosts hope they can beat the Italians in their first ever competitive meeting. Launische Diva have moved up a gear, clinching three successive triumphs after playing out five straight draws. Frankfurt’s main strength, at the moment, is their unstoppable attacking force that has scored ten goals in their previous three games. Although the Eagles boast one of the best offenses in the Bundesliga, Adi Hütter can’t be happy about the fact his defense has managed just two clean sheets in their last 15 competitive games.

Meanwhile, the visitors come into this meeting off the back of a frustrating 2-1 road defeat to Cagliari that has seen them hand third place in Serie A to arch-rivals AC Milan. It was the fourth consecutive Inter’s game that has produced over 2.5 goals, and also the second successive in which the Milanese heavyweights allowed 2+ match goals. Luciano Spalletti’s main concern could be that his players have pulled off just three wins on their last ten road trips across all competitions (W3, D3, L4). While all three of their previous away victories saw them beat their rivals with the identical 1-0 scoreline, all four of their last road defeats saw the Biscione lose by a narrow 1- goal margin.
